Guyonne Le Louarn, Violin and Viola

Guyonne Le Louarn, AVCM, BCRMTA, Paris CS alumna, RCM certified teacher.

Guyonne Le Louarn is a distinguished French-born violinist, violist, and music educator based in Victoria, BC. Known for her dual expertise in both performance and education, she serves as the Assistant Principal Viola of the Vancouver Island Symphony (VIS) and is the founder of Maggie Music LLP.

Born in France in 1975, she has pursued a career that spans international performance and rigorous academic study. Guyonne studied at the Rennes Conservatory and later in Nantes, where she transitioned from violin to viola, earning multiple gold medals and performance diplomas from the Conservatoire de Paris (CS Paris) and a degree in Early Music Performance from Nantes. Winner of the Paris Interschool Competition (1998) and finalist at the National Viola Competition in Épernay (1999).International Performance. She is formerly the principal viola of the CEMS chamber orchestra (2000), performing in Europe and Oman.

Guyonne then moved to Victoria, BC, and since then, is holding several leadership and teaching positions within the British Columbia music community. She is the Managing Partner & Founder of Maggie Music LLP, a Victoria-based music school. She serves as Assistant Principal Viola for the Vancouver Island Symphony. She is a faculty member at Maggie Music, the Victoria Conservatory of Music (VCM), and Camosun College, where she teaches violin, viola, and chamber music, and is a RCM-certified teacher for all levels of violin and viola. She is scheduled to join the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) College of Examiners in mid-2026

Her approach emphasizes meeting students “wherever they are” and focuses on building a healthy technical foundation while ensuring lessons remain engaging and thorough. A believer in giving back, she serves as the Strings Section Head for the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival (GVPAF) and is a regular blood donor, since Europeans are now permitted to donate blood.  She has been a proud member of the Victoria Branch of BCRMTA since 2008 and is excited to now serve as the Vice-President of the branch, helping grow connections among teachers in Victoria and beyond.

For more than 30 years, Guyonne has taught Viola, Violin, and Chamber Music to students of all ages and levels, in both English and French and has led her pupils to multiple awards in festivals and successful exams.
